Today was a really great day for food. REALLY great. As in delicious. Probably the worst day for my "diet" whatever that is supposed to be. I started out with some superior American cuisine which was breakfast at Chick-a-fila. I know. Its really horrible. I forgot to ask for strawberry jam too. BUT NO SODA!
Work was pounding away, and I made sure to ask lots of super awkward questions to my co-workers. I also found out that a male coworker actually thought that Brittany Spears is talented. He likes her voice I'm sure... So the time finally came when someone pipes up and says "What are we getting for lunch??" We always order out as a pharmacy, so I consider saturday my somewhat cheat days. We ended up getting mexican food and it was AMAZING. Best enchiladas I have ever had in my life. Maybe. They were pretty damn good but perhaps that was because it has been so long since I have had some super fabulous delicioso enchiladas. Whatever. We all sat down silently to eat and munched along. I used that time to catch up on that bullshit going down in Egypt.
Surprisingly enough and for the first time in weeks we got out on time. I left at 4pm on the dot. The last few weeks were an hour or more extra. I can't even tell you how horrible it is to stand there filling prescriptions once that clock strikes "time to go home, lazy." So we are walking out the door and we move along. The 20-30 minute drive home (depends on traffic) was very uneventful. I was very tired and had dinner reservations at 7:45 in The Domain. I didn't want to blow off my boyfriend, SO instead we made plans to go south and visit a Steakhouse in New Braunfels. It was closer and probably the better decision. So glad we changed locations. It is our 4th year together (on friday) and it was time to get out and break loose.
The steak house was called Myrons Steakhouse (or something to that effect), and we hadn't even opened the car door when the delicioius steak smell started wafting around us. I felt like Remmie in Ratatouille when he is having that experience with the cheese. So as we are walking in the building these amazing smells are just beating us silly. I was drunk on seared ribeye by the time we got to the table. This place was top notch fancy too. Tablecloths doubled up, several plates and forks and glasses, the waitress even took my dirty knife away and gave me a new one so as not to contaminate the flavor of my steak with the flavor of my salad. That vinagarette was good enough to make me have a gourmetgasm. And that was just the foreplay.
As usual the waitress gives that hedonistic warning "don't touch the plates, they are hot" and damn she wasn't lying. My steak was still sizzling. It was like ordering a plate of fajitas that come out on that giant cast iron pan. The steak was perfect. My little ribeye was worth every penny. At $40 bucks a steak it better have been. I got it cooked medium and it oozed its meaty flavorful juices all over my plate and the au jous or however its spelled was so good. I even somehow was able to let it rest a little bit before I skewered it with my knife and fork. You bet I forked that thing so hard. I forgot to mention how amazing the bread was. That pre-dinner bread made me moan. I love food, and if you can't stop "MMmmMMM"ing then you know you are somewhere good.
The dessert was delicious too. New York Style Sincake is what it should really be called. I even allowed them to bring me whatever berry juice glaze topping that I wouldnt allow on top of my cheesecake and I ate that separately too. I ate my whole meal. I am totally and udderly stuffed. With beef. MMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmooooooo.
Now I must clean my room as I have a photographer coming over :) Happy eating!
